The Changed Life is a not-for-profit that provides job skills training and life skills training to ex-offenders in the Indianapolis area. We do this while maintaining a faith based focus.
Our Mission:
The Changed Life’s mission is to significantly reduce the recidivism rates of individuals returning to Marion County (Indianapolis) Indiana from incarceration in the Indiana department of corrections and the county jail system through life skills training coupled with transitional jobs program.
What does The Changed Life do?
The Changed Life is a training center to ex-offenders.
- Daily Morning Devotions - every morning we start out with a scripture verse and short story that goes along with it. Afterwards we discuss our feeling on the reading and share any daily concerns or troubles with each other.
- Friday Mens Meeting - each Friday morning we have a mens group that is open to any ex-offenders. In it we talk about life as an ex-offender, where we are at in our journey, and where we want to be. Men are encouraged to share their stories and regularly lift each other up through hard times. Faith based videos are often shown at the beginning to spark conversation.
- Manhood Training - The Changed Life provides manhood training to local jails, work release centers, and our Moller Road facility. These classes show what it truly means to be a Christian man and how to be a giver to society and families instead of a taker.
- Resource Center - at our Moller Road facility we have many resources including computers, educational materials, books, and videos that help ex-offenders reacquaint to life outside of prison. This could consist in anything from getting personal IDs to writing a resume to searching for a job.
- Job Possibilities - The Changed Life also has a limited number of in-house job opportunities for ex-offenders. These jobs include lawn care, small engine repair, generator assembly and installation, plumbing parts manufacturing, and customer service. We are constantly investigating new opportunities to provide additional jobs for our participants.
